The new regulation is applicable for applicants from the 2022 Spring semester and go-on.
However, current recipients are still required to follow the terms that are regulated in the regulation for the sustainability of current scholarship.

Students must have a record of having completed Mandarin courses at the University or have proof of having taken Mandarin courses in Taiwan or having passed a national-level Mandarin test before applying for NYCU scholarship renewal. | applicable for all applicants from the 2022 Spring semester | The purpose is to encourage students to enroll in Mandarin courses. No regulations on how many grades you are required to achieve in your Mandarin courses. And if you really can not fulfill this term, please contact OIA before you apply for the renewal. |
Awardees of international student scholarships who are undergraduate students must enroll in least four Mandarin courses during their studies. PhD and master’s awardees must take at least two Mandarin courses during their studies. Awardees who have taken Mandarin courses in Taiwan or have passed national-level Mandarin tests may provide related proof to be exempt from taking these courses. For awardees who fail to meet related Mandarin course requirements before graduation, the University has the power to request for the awardees to return their received scholarships and grants. | applicable for all students from the 2022 Spring semester | The purpose is to encourage students to enroll in Mandarin courses. The scholarship shall be terminated immediately if the awardee has left the campus for over 30 days not due to academic or research reasons. However, if the awardee has left the campus for over 30 days due to academic or research reasons, awardees are required to submit a written document, have them signed by their advisors and stamped by their department, and submit them to the Office of International Affairs prior to their leave for future reference. | applicable for all students | If NYCU international students are leaving Taiwan for more than 30 days due to academic or research reasons during the semester (judge by NYCU calendar), please prepare the required documents and submit them to OIA before leaving Taiwan. |
