【External Event】National Chengchi University: Transatlantic Strategies in a Changing World- U.S. Foreign Policy, China Challenge, and Defense Resilience
- Amid the rapidly evolving landscape of great-power competition and security challenges, shifts in U.S. foreign policy are reshaping transatlantic relations and prompting Europe to reassess its global role and defense strategies. The rise of China as a systemic challenger further highlights the need for greater coordination among democratic nations in trade, technology, and values-based diplomacy.
- This symposium brings together scholars and policy experts to discuss the evolution of U.S. foreign policy, Europe’s responses, and the future of transatlantic cooperation. It will focus particularly on strategic competition with China, policy coordination, and geopolitical implications. The event will also address the impact of emerging technologies on defense resilience, exploring how artificial intelligence, drones, and cyber capabilities are transforming security strategies. Furthermore, it will examine Taiwan’s role in regional defense frameworks and consider how the U.S., Europe, and their partners can collectively navigate the uncertainties of the 21st century.
- The symposium is organized by the College of International Affairs, National Chengchi University, and co-organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan), the Graduate Institute of International Politics at National Chung Hsing University, the Master’s Program in National Security and Mainland China Studies (for Working Professionals) at NCCU, the EU Studies Credit Program, and the Office of Research and Development.
