Group Medical Insurance Information (International Students / Mainland China Students / Overseas Chinese Students)
New students must hold valid medical and accident insurance coverage for at least six months before becoming eligible for the National Health Insurance (NHI). If students cannot provide eligible insurance documents, NYCU will assist in arranging the required insurance.

1. Insurance Coverage Details
International Students

If you have not held valid medical insurance in Taiwan, you are required to join the Group Medical Insurance through NYCU (Group Foreign Students Health Insurance, GFSHI, provided by Mercuries Life Insurance Company).
  • Premium: NTD 3,500/7 months
  • Coverage Period: 7 months from the start of each semester (August 1 for Fall semester and February 1 for Spring semester)
Mainland China Students
If you have not held valid medical insurance in Taiwan, you are required to join the Group Medical Insurance through NYCU (Group Foreign Students Health Insurance, GFSHI, provided by Mercuries Life Insurance Company).
  • Premium: NTD 3,000/6 months
  • Coverage Period: 6 months from the start of each semester (August 1 for Fall semester and February 1 for Spring semester)
Overseas Chinese Students
New arrivals must enroll in the Overseas Chinese Student Medical Insurance (OCMI) for the first six months, which will be arranged by NYCU.
  • Premium: NTD 600/6 months (The actual amount is subject to the annual announcement by the Overseas Community Affairs Council)
  • Coverage Period: 6 months from the start of each semester

2. Insurance Coverage
Reimbursement is available for medical treatment resulting from accidents or illnesses, provided a substantial medical procedure is involved. The maximum reimbursement is NTD 1,000 per visit.
Non-treatment visits such as vision checks, dental checkups, or general health examinations are not covered. Please refer to the policy document for complete details.

4. Additional Notes
  • If you already have valid insurance in Taiwan, please submit a copy of the policy via email at least one month before the semester begins.
  • Foreign insurance policies must be authenticated as follows:
    • Issued in Mainland China: Must be notarized by a local notary and verified by institutions designated by the Executive Yuan of Taiwan.
    • Issued in other regions: Must be notarized by a Taiwanese overseas representative office.
  • After 7 months (for international students) or 6 months (for Mainland Chinese and Overseas Chinese students), if you are still not eligible for NHI, you must continue to hold valid insurance coverage to cover the insurance gap. NYCU will assist with extending the Group Medical Insurance at a rate of NTD 500 per month.
