Guidelines on Incentives to International Students for Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language
Approved at the 3rd Administrative Meeting of the 2023–2024 Academic Year on November 29, 2023
1. Object
The National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (hereinafter “NYCU”) established Guidelines on Incentives to International Students for Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (hereinafter “the Guidelines”) to encourage its international students to study and enhance their Chinese language proficiency and increase their willingness to seek employment in Taiwan in the future.
2. Eligibility
International students enrolled at NYCU, who have passed the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) of the Taiwan Ministry of Education and obtained a TOCFL certificate post-admission, are eligible to apply for this Incentive through the Office of International Affairs (OIA).
3. Incentive amounts
The incentive amounts, based on the TOCFL levels, shall be announced in the application guidelines for the year and is limited to a maximum of NT$8,000.
4. Application period
Applications are accepted once annually. The application dates shall be announced in the application guidelines for the year, and late applications will not be accepted.
5. Application procedure
Students must provide the following application documents before the announced deadline:
(a) A copy of the valid TOCFL certificate
(b) A copy of NYCU student ID
(c) A copy of the valid Alien Resident Certificate
(d) A copy of the cover of a bank account passbook
(e) Other specified documents
6. Important regulations:
(a) The OIA may adjust the incentive amounts and numbers of recipients on the basis of the annual budget.
(b) Students must submit their applications within one year from the date of the test, and each student is entitled to apply for only one level of incentive per year.
(c) Each student may be awarded the incentive for the same level of the same test type only once. Those who have passed and been awarded incentive for a higher level of the same test type will not be eligible for incentives for lower levels (or the same level).
7. The Guidelines are in effect once approved at the Administrative Meeting. The same principle applies when amendments are made.
