2024 APRU Summer School: Multi-Hazards

NYCU is a member of the Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU), and we are invited to participate in the special summer school. We warmly welcome applications from our students (master's level and above), faculty, and researchers to join enthusiastically!

Topic:
Multi-Hazards: Cross-border Collaborations as a Tool for Addressing Disaster Risks,
Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Disaster Science Research

Introduction:
The 9th APRU MH Summer School will be held on 30 July –2 August at IRIDeS, Tohoku University. This year’s focus is“Cross-border Collaborations as a Tool for Addressing Disaster Risks.” Graduate students and young researchers interested in disaster risk reduction (DRR) and management are welcome to join this event.

Schedule:
07/30:Opening, International Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction & Lessons learnt from the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami
07/31:Experience and case studies by various stakeholders, Group Activity
08/01:DRR researches and initiatives by APRU member universities, Group Activity
08/02:Field trip to the affected site

Program Language: English

Fee and Participants:
All currently enrolled NYCU students (master's level and above), faculty, and researchers are welcome to participate (regardless of nationality). This summer school has no registration fee, but participants are responsible for their own transportation, accommodation, and related expenses.
*After registering for the event, the organizers will recommend hotels for accommodation, which participants will need to book themselves.

Registration & Deadline:
Please complete the online form, with registration being centrally managed by the OIA.
Kindly ensure that the form is filled out by June 21, 2024, 17:00.
NYCU students shoud pay a deposit of NT$500 must be paid at the OIA at either the Yangming or Guangfu campus by June 25, 2024, 17:00.

Registration is considered complete only after the deposit is paid. Failure to pay the deposit will result in automatic cancellation of registration.
Deposit refund period: From August 6, 2024, to September 6, 2024.
(For the Yangming campus, please pay the deposit to Ms. Rebecca Wey at the OIA.
For the Guangfu campus, please pay the deposit to Ms. Kiki Yang at the OIA.)
